ČT2 (Dvojka) is a television station of the Czech Television. It was established on 1 January 1993 and as an alternative channel, aimed at more demanding and minority audience interests, it is oriented towards education, documentaries and programmes related to nature, history and science.
Dvojka also broadcasts films for more demanding audiences, often in the original version with Czech subtitles, British series, Czechoslovak Film Weekly (news from the 1950s), Panorama, and the magazine Dobré ráno. Since 2010, there are almost no sports broadcasts on CT2 anymore; these have been moved to the sports channel CT Sport. Thus, only sports broadcasts that are required by the licence conditions remain on Dvojka.
ČT2 regularly broadcasts its own and foreign documentary cycles. Among the foreign ones, for example from BBC Earth. It also frequently broadcasts documentary series such as Around the World with a Chef, With a Gourmet on the Road, Places of Pilgrimage, Air Disasters or Camera on the Road. Of its own, for example, the series National Jewels, Vine, Observations from Elsewhere, What If and Divnopis.
CT2 is dominated by award-winning films with a historical or documentary focus, for example from HBO. Some films are their own, from the studios of Czech Television. In the evening, CT2 broadcasts specialised foreign series such as Game of Thrones, Downton Manor, Bates Motel, House of Cards, Nurse Jackie or The Night Receptionist. [/not-lang] [lang=ar,il,ur]
