Otvorena televizija - Open Television was founded on 25.5. in 1989. It was the first independent television of the former Yugoslavia, established outside the state television system of JRT. OTV was already conceived as the first commercial television of the former Yugoslavia, despite socialism or precisely because of it. After the democratic and transitional changes in the countries of Eastern Europe, with the independence of Croatia, OTV became the country's leading local television station.
OTV uses its role as a leader in organizing a network of local television stations, which have been operating as a whole for several years, broadcasting joint programs of enormous influence in prime-time.
CCN's information and political program, of which OTV is the founder and leader, played a decisive role in the democratic changes of 2000, when OTV, through CCN, was the only alternative to the news monopoly of state television, HTV.
Throughout these 20 years of existence, OTV has developed the genres of informative, political and entertainment programs as its trademark.
His political and informative shows have a cult status among the Croatian public, precisely because they go beyond the framework, monopoly and state control.
